ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE /ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (Carle Place)

Accounting Firm looking for an experienced billing and collection assistant to perform various accounts receivable tasks as well as client service and support staff functions.
Candidate must have good command of English language both written and verbally, organizational skills and attention to detail. Must be able to work both independently and as a team.
Computer skills needed: Quickbooks Desktop knowledge is a must as well as basic Microsoft excel skills.
Responsibilities:
Monitor list of open balances
Apply payments received to quickbooks, daily
Collect payments from clients via credit card or intuit payments
Set up new clients in our system
Generate and send, via email, or U.S. mail, invoices and statements to clients
Work to resolve any billing discrepancies or client requests for payment arrangements
Maintain calendar or repeat, scheduled payments accurately
Place accounts on “hold” as necessary to keep clients accounts up to date
Make collection calls and follow up with overdue accounts
Answer phones
Scan all incoming documents
Open, sort, scan distribute incoming mail and maintain outgoing mail log
Type letters as needed by partners and staff
Assist with the intake process of tax information and communication with clients the status of their taxes
Benefits:
This is a full-time, hourly position, M-F (flexible if needed)
When overtime is needed on critical due dates, the pay rate is time and a half
