All Software Engineering internships for the summer of 2021 will be remote.

Position Overview :

As a Software Engineer Intern at TechSmith, you will be putting your problem-solving skills and passion for developing great software to use every day.

You will work within a team, building world-class software products, on multiple platforms, in a fun, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities include : participating in an agile team, programming, estimating upcoming work, reviewing completed work with teammates, as well as other duties, as assigned.

At TechSmith, every individual can make a big impact, while working in a supportive team environment. As part of an agile development team, you will have a voice in helping to decide what assignments the team tackles.

While working directly with User Experience Designers and Product Owners, you will help to decide how to solve our customer’s requests.

With the help of Software Test Specialists and your teammates, you will have the time and support to fully test your solutions and create quality work.

When you are not coding solutions for customer problems, you will have the time to advance your skills with the help and support of your programming lead and manager.

Required Skills and Background :

Currently enrolled in classes, or will be enrolled in the next semester, and working towards a degree in Computer Science, or a closely related field

Experience in an object-oriented programming language

Demonstrable experience developing software

Understanding of computer science fundamentals

Experience in, or desire to, develop Cloud Services or desktop applications for Windows or Mac

Ability to collaborate with other software engineers, and a diverse set of people from many disciplines, in an agile development process including participating in code reviews and testing software changes

Willingness and ability to work in a remote work environment

You must be legally authorized to work in the United States without an employer-sponsored petition for a visa, such as an H-1B visa.

TechSmith does not intend to file any visa applications in connection with this opening.

For the duration of your internship you must work from one of the following states : Michigan, Texas, or Florida

Preferred Skills and Background :

Experience in the programming languages and technologies used at TechSmith. TechSmith developers use C, C#, Objective-C, Objective-C, Swift, JavaScript, React, and Microsoft Azure Services depending on team and product assignment.

Familiarity with source control systems, preferably git and github

Experience with software engineering principles, processes, and best practices

Experience with automated testing framework and writing automated tests

Experience working on teams and collaborating on projects with a mentor and with other teammates.

Experience with IDEs such as Visual Studio and XCode

Experience with the agile development process

Compensation and Perks :

TechSmith offers competitive pay based on skills and experience. This is an hourly position with TechSmith Corporation. Schedule and hours are based on a consensus between you and your supervisor, a minimum of 15 hours per week is required with a minimum of 12 weeks for the summer internship.

Hours are limited to a maximum of 40 hours per week for the summer internship. TechSmith also offers a 20 hours a week co-op for students interested in working year-round.

An internship with TechSmith will last one semester, with the possibility of extending to additional semesters, depending on whether TechSmith has a need and whether the employee is meeting / exceeding expectations or not.
