The Application Engineer (AE) is responsible for interfacing with customers and SemiNex technical staff to identify and/or design-in SemiNex laser diode components and sub-systems to meet customer requirements on a case by case basis. Key to this process will be an understanding of the optical, electrical and mechanical properties of SemiNex laser diodes.

The AE should have an internal desire to interface with customers, and attend exhibitions, conferences and trade shows. The AE will manage customer technical interactions and assist the President and Sales & Marketing with the development, creation and management of marketing content through social media, internet, web and print. The AE will provide general and administrative support of SemiNex sales and marketing programs.

Specific Responsibilities:

Develops technical selling skills and product knowledge in all SemiNex product and technology areas to give effective presentations of SemiNex product offering.

Serve as the technical liaison between customers and the company.

Engage with customers and prospects and recommend solutions based on the company’s products and capabilities.

Maintain accurate records of all customer activities including calls, presentations, quotations, closed orders, and follow-up activities within CRM program and shared drives.

Create and conduct effective proposal presentations and RFP responses that identify prospects business problems and the SemiNex solutions to their problems.

Provide technical support to customers on issues and refer more detailed issues to SemiNex engineering with clear and detailed communications.

Study technical uses of lasers for medical, military and home applications, develop a working understanding of the applications for SemiNex product, and identify new opportunities for products.

Complete market research and identify technical opportunities for SemiNex diodes in professional and consumer application areas including medical, LIDAR and military laser applications.

Other Responsibilities:

Network within small and large companies in support of sales and marketing goals.

Support the development of the annual sales plan in conjunction with management.

Assist in the development of new marketing materials including the development of artwork, photography, and written content in support of advertisements, press releases, technical white papers, application notes and product information materials.

Support marketing content across all platforms including seminex.com, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn so that all marketing materials are current and information is distributed effectively throughout all channels.

Assist in other corporate and engineering tasks as may be required from time-to-time.

Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes.

Requirements:

Bachelors or master’s degree in engineering

Strong PC skills including Microsoft Office and some graphic design packages such as Adobe or similar

Familiarity with Google AdWords, Facebook, and LinkedIn is a plus

Excellent communication skills; good personal skills on the phone and in-person when working with customers and prospects; good work ethic/positive attitude; and goal oriented
