General Function:

Assists customers with services to enhance their appearance to their liking. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of hair, nails and skin. They should also possess a broad knowledge of trends and fashion. The idea is to achieve maximum customer satisfaction to drive long term success for our business.

Reporting Relations:

Accountable and Reports to: Store Director, Assistant Store Director; Managers of Store Operations and GM, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, and GM, Assistant Managers & Beauty/Basin Manager

Direct Reports: None

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Converses with clients/customers to better understand their requirements and makes suggestions for improving their appearance.

Styles hair.

Applies make-up, creating a variety of looks according to the request of the client.

Applies and sells cosmetics and other beauty products.

Answers the phone and schedules appointments.

Maintains equipment and orders materials when needed.

Complies with health and safety standards.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

Orders product and supplies as necessary.

Prices products for customers as necessary.

Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.

Assists in other areas of store as needed.

Education and Experience:

High school Graduate or equivalent.

Successful completion of cosmetology program and certification.

1-3 years of proven experience as a cosmetologist.

Working knowledge of all aspects of cosmetology and beauty.

Up-to-date with fashion and beauty trends.

Great physical stamina.

Excellent communication and people skills.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to physically exert up to 50-pounds of force occasionally, 20-pounds of force frequently and 10-pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Visual requirements include clarity of vision at a distance of more than 20-inches and less than 20-feet with our without correction, color vision, depth perception and field of vision.

Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions:

The duties for this position are normally conducted in a retail store type environment.

There is some pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities.

There could be exposure to noise, equipment movement hazards, cleaning chemicals/solvents, and possible electrical shock and temperature extremes.

Works in a fragrance filled environment.

Handles and applies cosmetic products to clients.

Able to work flexible days/nights/hours including weekends and holidays.

Contacts:

Has daily contact with the general public and customers. Has contact with federal/state governmental or regulatory agencies regarding inspections in salon environment.
