Triple Cities Makerspace, Inc., (TCMS) is looking for an Executive Director to administer the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) Program Area Development Grant.

This grant provides funding to offer open and free education for persons of interest in the area of advanced manufacturing and CNC machine tool operation with the goal of job placement in an industry partner company, with the goal of providing high paying jobs to break the poverty cycle and enhance the workforce in the Southern Tier. Half of the funding for this program was provided by the ARC in the amount of $150,000.

TCMS is a 501c3 non-profit organization that works to foster technology education, outreach and innovation by offering hands-on classes, and access to high-tech tools and technologies.

This is a one-year, term-limited appointment with the possibility of an extension based on funding.

General Responsibilities:

Responsible for leading TCMS to support and guide the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.

Responsible for communicating effectively and working closely with the board of directors and committees, informing, assessing, and addressing issues that affect the organization, while working in conjunction with the board to fulfill the mission of the organization.

Financial Performance and Viability:

Success of the ARC Program Grant Year One.

Responsible for the fiscal integrity of TCMS to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget, monthly financial statements, and other documents as required to accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.

Organization Mission and Strategy:

Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local legislation.

Ensure that the mission is fulfilled through the ARC program through strategic planning and community outreach.

Responsible for implementation of TCMS programs carrying out the organization’s mission.

Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that TCMS can successfully fulfill its Mission into the future.

Represent the organization and increase awareness by being the spokesperson and liaison with local media as well as being the primary public point of contact.

Skills and Qualifications

1 year previous experience with administering grants and soliciting funding, and experience managing operating budgets

Previous project coordination experience, including cost, schedule and performance management

Proven experience with fostering partnerships with businesses and community organizations.

Strong public relations, marketing, and fundraising experience

Proven success working with a board of directors

Entrepreneurial mindset, with innovative approach to business planning

Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization

Ability to work remotely and utilize web based collaboration tools (i.e. Google Suites)

Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

In the area of advanced manufacturing education, the applicant will preferably have previous experience with machining and advanced manufacturing in a professional capacity.

Experience with working with and managing volunteers.

2 Years of Non-profit Leadership Experience, or board experience.
