Role Summary

The Med / Surg Care Partner assists with thedelivery of patient care and maintenance of unit environmental standards underthe supervision of a licensed nurse.

Department / UnitSummary :

6 Round Wing / Adult Inpatient Medicine, located in MedicalCenter North at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, is fast-paced and focusedon acute medicine.

6RW is a 14 bed unit, which cares for adult patientswith non-surgical acute medicine conditions.

The mission of the 6RW / Medicine is to provide compassionate, quality care thatis respectful, patient / family-centered, safe, and cost efficient.

Ournurses are able to utilize evidence-based guidelines to provide the highestquality of care. The staff experiences the professional satisfaction thatcomes with making a difference every day for their patients and families, whileexpanding their critical care knowledge base and applying critical thinkingskills to understand and intervene in the care of their patients.

Our population of patients may include patients with anynumber of co-morbidities, including neurological, respiratory, cardiac,gastrointestinal, renal and endocrine medical conditions.

All beds are appropriate for continuous bedside sp02 monitoring.

The Management structure of 6RW / Medicine consists of theUnit Manager and 2 Clinical Staff Leaders and Nurse Educator. EachClinical Staff Leader is responsible for 18-20 staff.

The staff is composed of RN’s, Care Partners and MedicalReceptionists and RN assignments are determined by patient census and acuity.

Normal RN ratios are 5 : 1.

Position Shift :

This is a 12-hour shift, 36 hours per week, night shift position. The schedule is made for six weeks and we offer self-scheduling.

Basic Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) and Other : 1) Current enrollment in a program of professional nursing RN and successful completion of first semester of nursing school to include nursing fundamentals clinical, or 2) Graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program, or 3) Min of one year previous experience as a care partner or nursing assistant / technician.
