Our devoted staff will support and help every student complete their program, and once they graduate, they’ll assist the student with their job search.We are looking for a PLUS Academic Advisor/Specialist (Online) to join our team.This position supports student experience, student success, and student retention through delivering online orientation services, by acting as liaison for campus-based online students and supporting the online campus’ active student population from matriculation to graduation.Orientation Duties

To coordinate all activities required to have a successful online orientation course. This includes working with registrar to create orientation terms in Campus Vue for Orientation Courses, to work with Academic Operations to build Orientation course master and to duplicate courses in the learning management system and to conduct the online courses for each session.

To build orientation webinar invitations with registration and attendee reporting, identify all students scheduled for online courses and coordinate the student self-registration process for Online Orientation, and to report out attendance, participation and completion results against matriculation into first course and successful first course completion

Participates in quarterly sessions with campus DOEs, PDs, Instructional Designers, Academic Advising and Other Stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement as it pertains to student retention and success, such as providing feedback on resources or curriculum that are particularly problematic for students

PLUS Services Duties

Troubleshooting and resolving student help requests from faculty, staff, and students taking online courses

Tracking of student help requests in a ticketing system for the purposes of shared work-load management, speed-to-resolve, and to identify trends and provide analysis of student issues

Provides regular reporting of student issue volume, type, and recommendations for improved student experience, success, and retention

Creates basic troubleshooting guides with walkthroughs will be available for staff and faculty to walk students through issues they are having.

Takes ownership of issues impacting any student attending online courses and works each issue to resolution

Coordinates and communicated with the appropriate campus contacts, instructor and student as required

Academic Advising Duties

Advises students on all academic progress and progression

Develops and maintains relationships with students through consistent telephone, email, and event outreach

Communicates with assigned students regularly through virtual meetings, phone, text, and email to provide tools, resources, encouragement

Reviews student enrollment forms, previous education, current work/personal life commitments and other student-specific concerns to prepare a plan for success for each individual student

Provides a consistent presence in students' academic experience, including periodic reviews of student degree audit and satisfactory academic progress (SAP) guidelines

Identifies and counsels academically at-risk students (below 70% course grades, attendance issues, or other metrics outlined in the academic catalog) and coordinates the creation of and monitoring of Academic Recovery Plans as needed

Analyze and report on data, trends, retention risk factors and strategies to improve student retention and graduation rates.

Is responsible to communicate all academic advising activity to the Program Director/Dean/DOE

Assists students with course scheduling, including coordinating retaking failed courses

Participates in continuing student reviews (CSRs) and new student reviews (NSRs) as needed

Develop and manage community resources and services that foster student success; communicate availability of resources to students.

Assists in organizing student outreach activities and appreciation events.

Follows accrediting body, DOE and FERPA guidelines

Prepare and Perform weekly, monthly etc. reporting functions

Indicators of Success

Meet at a minimum, institutional accrediting body retention standards for each program offered

Student Success Survey scores meet or exceed institutional benchmarks

Time to completion rate meets institutional standards

Meeting monthly, weekly, and daily engagement goals with students

No missing academic recovery plans on any internal or external audits for students on SAP report or failed course reports

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in higher education in either teaching, counseling, or administration

Must have experience in Online Learning Modalities

Bachelor’s degree Required; Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience working with CampusVue®, learning management systems such as Canvas, auto-dialers, webinar technologies, video recordings, mass e-mailing, and intermediate Excel experience required.

Must be comfortable leading online events, meetings, and trainings

Excellent customer service and organizational skills.

Attention to detail with the capability to multi-task.

Must be Computer savvy – Computer knowledge is required, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
