We are at a critical inflection point as we continue through the next phases of maturity.You will be in a highly-visible and influential position to deliver on the opportunities we face; driving the strategy forward and helping the business to plan, align and deliver. You will work with both a direct and indirect team, working in partnership will all major functions and business units.Excellent communication will be critical, as you adapt your approach to address the varying trends, regulations and opportunities that impact Goodyear's ability to meet current and future business objectives. You will also ensure the organization is focused on the most material sustainability topics working closely executive management, shareholders, board, customers, government bodies and employees.The role reports directly to our Global Operations & Chief Technology OfficerKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:The Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) is responsible for ensuring we deliver on the sustainability and ESG opportunities across the business. (S)he will influence a cultural shift that takes Goodyear further up the maturity index and develop strategies to improve the organizations capability, structure and maturity to achieve sustainable outcomes.Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Define Goodyear strategy and work with the business & function leaders to operationalize our strategy in products, services, corporate goals, policy and operating standards. Areas of focus include sustainability trends/regulations that impact material sourcing, climate change, decarbonization, circularity, governance, operations, mobility and workforce culture. Identify key aspects of strategy enablement and create a roadmap to ensure strong execution. Act as a subject matter expert to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Senior Leadership team (SLT) on making important decisions around our integrated sustainability strategy.

Developing and nurturing talent – provide empathetic and engaging leadership to your direct team as well as supporting the wider network of sustainably professionals in the business. Demonstrate servant leadership with humility and passion, foster courageous thinking and innovation that fuels progress.

Collaborate with senior leadership across the enterprise (BU leaders, operations, technology, finance, HR, Legal, supply chain, IT and communications) to enable ideation and action as it relates to our sustainability opportunities. With respect to specific ESG priorities, this person will lead our Environmental initiatives whilst influencing and supporting the direction of Social and Governance priorities, working with key functional leadership groups (notably CHRO and General Counsel), in the process.

Lead critical projects that will enable Goodyear's ability to achieve sustainable business outcomes. Projects will require frequent engagement and interaction with key external stakeholders (investors, government officials, customers and non-government organizations.

Assess the maturity and readiness of the organization for accelerating sustainability efforts; seek to continuously improve the organization's capability (including structure - people, systems and processes), environment (culture, engagement and mindset) and competence (leadership and associate).

Responsible for communicating Goodyear's integrated sustainability strategy, action plans and progress to key stakeholders (including associates, investors, shareholders, government bodies and customers). Position Goodyear as a leader in the tire industry regarding key material sustainability topics. Act as an ambassador and custodian of our sustainability strategy at all times.

Thought Leadership & Best Practice – bring challenge and a critical eye to our current efforts. You will provide a perspective on what best practice looks like and encourages others to raise the bar in their respective businesses and functions.

KEY EXPERIENCES DESIRED:

Proven Business Leadership: experienced in either business, functional or sustainability leadership positions, to include global roles where you have been directly accountable for the performance and business outcomes. Experienced in developing and setting strategy and then leading teams to deliver. Previous experience in sustainability, operations, technology (R&D/Innovation) and commercial roles preferred.

Sustainability Knowledge & Understanding – you will possess an excellent knowledge & understanding of the sustainability and ESG opportunities facing large multinational companies. You will maintain an excellent understanding of the regulations, responsibilities, trends and opportunities, bringing sustainability ‘best practice’ to our organization.

People Leadership & Talent Development - track record of nurturing talent and leading high performing teams. Experienced as a direct people manager, with experience of leading and driving performance in a matrix organization. Able to create targets and hold people accountable in a way that drives performance and creates a winning culture.

Manufacturing Environments – candidates should ideally bring a strong understanding of manufacturing environments and production-based businesses. Additionally, personal experience in product development, technology and/or operational leadership roles would be advantageous.

Change Management & Leadership – in possession of finely-tuned change management skills. Strong candidates will have a track record of leading and driving transformation in complex global businesses, preferably in a ‘matrix’ reporting structure. Will bring advanced knowledge, skills and toolkit related to change management. Bring clear examples of successfully enhancing the sustainability profile of a business through effective change leadership.

Execution & Delivery - successful track-record delivering results across the enterprise. Has led a global function or department that works extensively with SBU teams and other functions to get things done. Able to move beyond the strategy and align teams to deliver.

Stakeholder Management – track record working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. Able to listen to, engage with and influence senior stakeholders up to Board level. Demonstrate a high level of EQ and interpersonal skills that lead to the development of trusting relationships.

Education - Master’s or Bachelors degree in Business, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Operations or a related field.
