Job Description

The Director will be responsible for ensuring delivery on all WoWE’s obligations, from overseeing product development to standing-up new partnerships to ensuring sound financial and operational management. In the first year, he/she will manage 4-5 direct reports, and oversee a team of 9 including staff and independent consultants, with expected growth in later years. Additionally, the Director will work closely with the CEO to develop and implement organizational growth, partnership development, and fundraising strategies.We are looking for a proactive, adaptive, and flexible leader to help WoWE achieve its vision.

Major workstreams will include, but not be limited to:

  • Ensuring robust work and resource planning across project teams

  • Participating and overseeing teams focused on the Endowment’s public and private markets investment strategy

  • Participating in financial structuring and investment transactions, to support a balanced portfolio

  • Implementation of prototyping workshops, across public and private markets

  • Identifying new revenue models, funding streams, or other growth opportunities

  • Quality control partners’ delivery of new product development and design

  • Management and analysis of budgets and organizational financials

  • Overseeing procurement of new service providers

  • Overseeing recruitment of new candidates

Qualifications

A successful candidate will excel in 3 key areas: management, strategy, and investment know-how. Priority skills and attributes are as follows:

  • At least 12 years’ management experience in a high-growth environment. Proven track record in investing and developing in talent.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful management systems and effectively prioritize and allocate resources across workstreams and deliverables – including identifying and securing new resources where needed.

  • Proven track record of developing and delivering on strategies, fundraising goals, and operations for new ventures.

  • Direct investment experience, including deal or financial product structuring.

  • Deep understanding of sustainability investing trends (including gender lens investing), opportunities, and barriers.

  • Ability to communicate effectively across stakeholder groups - from investors and asset managers to philanthropists or UN and nonprofit executives.

  • Demonstrated problem solver with solid judgement and high emotional intelligence.
