OverviewCatholic Community Services (CCS) and Catholic Housing Services (CHS) work in partnership to provide permanent supportive housing in King County to individuals and families who have experienced homelessness. We believe that everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to call home. We understand that people experiencing homelessness come to us with complex histories and that it takes a highly collaborative, creative team to help end the cycle of homelessness permanently. Grounded in this philosophy, the CCS Program Director provides leadership and vision to a multi-disciplinary, cross-agency team that works together to creatively support each individual or family in our housing. Thea Bowman Apartments (scheduled to open November 2020) is a newly built, 80-unit high-rise Permanent Supportive Housing property that utilizes a housing first, harm reduction model for single adults moving out of homelessness. This position offers a unique opportunity to foster the culture of this new community. King County Coordinated Entry provides the housing referrals for the units. Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services collaborate to provide the most enhanced resident experience and supportive community. Thea Bowman Apartments offers 24/7 staffing and on-site case management services.The Resident Services staff helps ensure the safety of the building’s residents, provides support to residents in crisis, and works with other staff to create a positive environment. This position also answers the phone, monitors the doors and security system, and performs light paperwork duty to ensure smooth communication between staff 24 hours a day.This position is central to fostering a safe, respectful, and caring environment for the residents at Thea Bowman Apartments. It is essential that the Resident Services staff create a welcoming presence in the lobby and offer hospitality to residents and their guests.Positions currently open:[ONE POSITION] Weekday Day Shift:Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (37.5 hours/week)[TWO POSITIONS] Weekday Swing Shift:Monday through Friday, 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. (37.5 hours/week)[TWO POSITIONS] Weekday Grave Shift:Monday through Friday, 12 a.m. to 8 a.m. (37.5 hours/week) ResponsibilitiesBuild rapport with individuals who are experiencing economic hardship, homelessness, mental illness and/or chemical dependency.

Provide crisis intervention and advocacy to individuals in a harm reduction program

Coordinate with in-house social service team, make referrals for service, and follow-up as needed

Model interpersonal and living skills for clients

Explain and enforce building and program rules

Maintain and safe and comfortable environment

Participate with residents in community meal preparation and cleanup

Work as a team with other colleagues on shift and be able to work independently without direct supervision

Review and record in log book 0to ensure program consistency

Conduct security checks throughout building to ensure that no unauthorized individuals are in the building and to monitor for unsafe conditions or situations

Walk program floors hourly, monitoring the safety of the building

Monitor security cameras and lobby, enforcing building and program rules.

Provide janitorial support including but not limited to:

Clean common area floors and bathrooms as appropriate

Assist tenants with the cleanliness of their apartments, including assistance with organization and cleaning following bug or mite infestation

Clean spills of potentially infections materials in common areas

Administrative responsibilities including but not limited to:

Greeting tenants and visitors, assuring they sign in properly and maintain the safety of the building.

Data entry

Maintain organization of common area

Administrative and General Responsibilities

Attend staff meetings, workshops, retreats, and in-service classes as provided.

Maintain accurate record of hours worked and turn in timesheets on schedule.

Contribute to and support a positive, team-oriented work environment;participate with other staff members in decision-making process.

Maintain cleanliness and order at the front desk.

Inform supervisors of facilities and client-related issues.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Social service experience (minimum of six months).

Understanding the issues that homeless individuals face, such as: trauma, alcohol and drug abuse, mental illness and domestic violence.

Demonstrate problem-solving/issue assessment skills, and/or crisis intervention or conflict mediation skills.

Basic computer skills with ability to maintain up to date and meticulous records.

Excellent oral and written communications

Must have a reliable phone or voice mail service.

Applicant must successfully pass required background checks prior to an offer of employment.

Ability to work independently in addition to working as a member of a team.

Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.
