Description
TheCredentialing Specialist is responsible for data entering, gathering, andprimary source verification of healthcare practitioner information, includingin-depth, detailed, or challenging research of information.
Primary methods ofresearching information include phone, fax, e-mail, internet, and letters. This position needs to be knowledgeable in health care, betask oriented, and work with other team members to accurately and timelyprocess documentation as required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
Performprimary (e.g., hospitals, licensing boards, etc.) and secondary sourceverifications of perspective providers' credentials with special emphasis onprovider issues relating to malpractice claims, privileging, criminal concerns,license anomalies and discrepancies in education
Responsiblefor gathering and verifying physician information, compiling requireddocuments, researching necessary information and verifying medical licenses
Scrutinize provider applications and resumes forconsistency and accuracy
Compilesdocuments, researches and verifies provider backgrounds by contactinghospitals, licensing boards, medical schools, etc.
Contactsor interviews provider peer references over the phone about the providersclinical performance skills.
A minimum of 0-2 years’ experience in data entry, officeadministration management or medical financial experience. 0-2 years’experience in credentialing / licensure verification / checks.
Requires excellentanalytical skills, flexibility and ability to perform detailed follow throughand prioritization.

Qualifications
Qualifications : Associate's degree is required. Acombination of education and experience will be considered.
A minimum of 3 years of credentialing orequivalent work experience is required
Have clear and concise phone and verbal communicationskills ability to write legibly
Demonstrate problem-solving, critical thinking, anddeductive reasoning skills
Ability to consistently maintain quality and productionexpectations
Demonstrate effective writtencommunication skills
Have strong computer, typing, and dataentry skills : includes MS Word, Excel and web-basedapplications, internet, and database programs
Detail oriented with ability to recognizevital information from verification documents
Possess proof-reading skills sufficientfor auditing documents
Ability to prioritize well and meetoverlapping deadlines
