Job DescriptionJoin the Clean Energy RevolutionBecome an Engineer 2, Transmission Planning at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll play a key role in supporting transmission system modeling and planning studies. This includes getting involved in external engagement by participating and representing SCE’s strategic objectives within technical industry groups, including but not limited to the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), the North American Transmission Forum (NATF), and the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC).A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!
Performing steady state and stability analyses on SCE’s bulk power system using GE PSLF and/or PowerWorld simulation software.
Reviewing and validating customer provided data (e.g., generator test reports and generator dynamic models) to update computer models used in transmission planning simulation software and analyses.
Performing assignments acting independently and leading intradepartmental technical teams.
Providing recommendations and implementing action plans to improve bulk power system models based on industry guidance and recommendations.
Representing SCE’s strategic objectives within technical industry groups.
Refining existing processes and procedures.
Demonstrating SCE’s values and guiding behaviors as it pertains to safety, integrity, excellence, respect, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QualificationsThe essentials
Two (2) or more years of electrical engineering experience
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical engineering or a related technical discipline
Engineering experience related to modeling and performing analyses on SCE’s Subtransmission and/or Transmission systems
The preferred
Master’s degree or higher in Electrical engineering or a related technical discipline
California P.E. License
You should know
This position’s work mode is hybrid .The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
