job summary:The Eclipse Application Manager is keeper of the Eclipse systems applications and works with various functional areas to ensure proper processes are developed and implemented throughout the company. This manager will be the Eclipse System Champion and serves as the primary internal business consultant in the system utilization. This position impacts major projects and focuses on business application development to ensure continuous process improvement in all areas. In this capacity, the manager will ensure all the operating procedures established within each "user functionality" conforms with the system specifications as written so that the company will realize the efficiencies and productivity that is expected through the Eclipse utilization. This position has a broad range of responsibilities that includes but is not limited to: end user system training, development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOP's) in association with process champions, and the monitoring of ongoing business needs to ensure future expansions of the system meets those needs.

Internal Relationships:Maintains on-going working relationship with the Eclipse end users, process champions, branch champions, the senior leadership team, Information Systems Specialists regarding system and SOP documentation maintenance, training of users, hardware needs (server and other hardware components), and the Human Resources Department for support of the University Learning Management System (LMS). Regularly interacts with Market and Branch personnel, outside sales, counter sales and customer support personnel, warehouse personnel, and Branch Support personnel.

External Relationships:Maintains a working relationship with the Epicor Eclipse Software Developers regarding system upgrades / maintenance, confers and manages consulting for implementation training and consultation, and other Eclipse end-user distribution companies for advice and counsel on system implementation.

Final Decision Maker:
  • Analysis of procedures and utilization of the Eclipse system should result in recommendations for future enhancements or broadening of the use of the system.
  • Provides input and leadership to the Eclipse Advisory User Group and sets direction on priorities and improvements to related modifications to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Guides and coaches assigned team members to assure they are trained in the system technologies to provide effective user support.
  • Guides and coaches end users to ensure they understand the technology and positively impact their effectiveness.

Education, Work Experience & Specialized Skills or Knowledge:
  • Specialized training in Eclipse software applications that includes order entry (sales), purchasing, order fulfillment (picking & shipping), receiving, customer returns (warrantee), purchasing, branch transfers, inventory control, and general ledger (controlling).
  • Three or more years' experience with Eclipse and have a thorough understanding of SOP's in a wholesale distribution company.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be a team player with the ability to motivate behavior and cooperation.
  • Strong leadership skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, skilled in re- engineering operations for the purpose of gaining the productivity and efficiencies from use of the Eclipse System.
  • Bachelors' degree required - may substitute work experience on a year for year basis.
  • Must have strong analytical skills, be proficient in project planning, and must be fluent in PC/Windows skills (Microsoft Office software applications.)
  • Ability to communicate proficiently in English in both verbal and written formats.
  • Ability to work with a high level of confidentiality.

  • Participates as the principal "owner / driver" of Eclipse system that includes planning, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of the system.
  • Formulates and defines short- and long-range goals and objectives for on-going utilization of Eclipse including software release upgrades and enhancements based on thorough knowledge and understanding of the HVAC/R wholesale distribution environment and the business needs of the company.
  • Assures end user training is conducted and provides user support on Eclipse software applications.
  • Works with process champions and managers to assure that all system documentation and SOP's are completed and updated as business needs dictate.
  • Monitors and measures Eclipse System efficacy to ensure compliance with established SOP's and TWG business needs.
  • Monitors, controls, analyzes, evaluates, and recommends further adaptation or modifications of the Eclipse system that will assist the company to achieve the efficiencies and productivity increases anticipated. This position is the modification gatekeeper.
  • Works with other company users of Eclipse to formulate the company's modification requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Eclipse system in support of company initiatives.
  • Manages subordinate(s) to ensure end users have the systems support necessary to affect desired efficiencies and enhancements of operations.
  • Works with the Advanced Technology Solutions Manager in the evaluation, implementation, and utilization of Eclipse Advanced Technology companion applications.
  • Works within Branch Support to support the utilization of Electronic Commerce initiatives (Web Commerce, Mobile Apps, Business to Business integration), Business Intelligence (BI) systems, as well as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) applications.
  • Hires, supports, develops, and directs assigned personnel.
  • Supports, complies with, and maintains documentation and procedures. Provide recommendations as appropriate including to enhance technical capabilities of systems and increase efficiencies.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
