3d Printed Robotic Headrest for Wheelchair

Greetings. I'm looking to hire somebody with experience in the 3D printing world, as well as experience with robotics and programming robotics. I have a highly customized power wheelchair that is 80% manufactured through the use of 3D printing parts that move through various actuators and arduino usage.

I recently moved here from out of state and I am looking to partner with a new engineer to finish additional work on my custom wheelchair, specifically the headrest.

I need a headrest that it is fully articulating on a ball joint, as well as both x/y axis movement of about 2 inches. The components I need assistance with are as follows:

- 3D printing the headrest itself, should be using a softer filament for flexibility – I already have a template design to start with

- figuring out what type of actuators are needed for the different axis movements

- figuring out how to make a ball joint that moves with some sort of joystick

- installation on a very small area behind the wheelchair

- power source, can either be from the wheelchair or a separate battery – I am already using some 3D printing actuator parts that use wheelchair power, so before committing to draining additional battery power for this project we would need to run some tests to see how much power would be drained and to determine whether it is optimal

Ultimately I would like to operate the device with an attached joystick module that can attach to the chair, alternatively it could be wireless for Bluetooth but that seems more vulnerable to issues.

If you think you meet the bill, please send me an e-mail with some information about your experience with 3D printing, mechanics, and robotics. I look for people who are excited to try things that are outside the box, and have efficient printing techniques as well as incredible skills with respect to compact robotics that are strong and can take long-term use. I expect that you have or have access to a 3D printer for this project as well.

You will be required to meet me in person at some point to see the chair and how I interact with it and to understand what is needed. You will also be required to send me or meet with me to do the testing. I live in Wellington.

When you respond, please provide your cell phone number and the best time to contact you. I look forward to hearing from several great candidates!
