Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center (SBVCC) is currently recruiting for a Part-time Procurement / Administrative Assistant.

SBVCC is a skilled nursing, long-term care center focused on providing quality care to our veterans. We are located on the grounds of the McGuire Medical Center.

The Procurement and Administrative Assistant will perform a variety of administrative tasks to support the Purchasing team.

Duties include : typing correspondence, and reports; creating and maintaining spreadsheets; maintaining and updating procurement files, workorders, and requisitions.

Provides record keeping using a database and computer-based optical imagining system which includes data entry, scanning and placement of files.

Maintains and updates documentation that includes timelines, addresses, and signatures. Provides operational support and aides in reviewing and prooing.

This position will also be responsible for processing basic procurement requests for goods and services with supervision using an electronic ordering system.

Applies, interprets or assesses existing procurement policies. Ability to determine the most effective and appropriate method of procurement to use.

Analyze requests for procurement compliance; secures market information regarding performance, quality, and performance;

conducts research and / or assembles information and develops summaries.

Monitors orders and provides follow-up with delinquent deliveries; works directly with office employees and vendors to ensure timely deliveries and problem resolution.

The Procurement Administrative Assistant supports the intent of Executive Order 33 (2006) and the goals of the Agency Procurement Plan when making vendor-sourcing decisions for goods and services.

This position requires the ability to perform daily responsibilities independently with minimal supervision. Requires the knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access and Adobe.

The ability to manage multiple assignments in an organized, timely and efficient manner; and excellent written and oral communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent

Experience in administrative, secretarial, and organization.

Preferred Qualifications

College degree or coursework in related field

Knowledge in state procurement rules and regulations

Knowledge of the Commonwealth’s electronic ordering system

Experience in a long-term care / nursing or adult geriatric setting
