Payroll and Accounting Specialist - Millionair Club Charity

Millionair Club Charity (MCC) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower people who are homeless or living in poverty to become ready for work and improve their life with a dignified, living-wage job.

To help achieve this goal, MCC utilizes a unique temporary social enterprise that connects almost 1,000 men and women a year with a temporary job that can lead to permanent placements and access to housing.

MCC is seeking an experienced payroll and accounting professional to execute the payroll operations for MCC staff and temporary staffing agency clients and support the accounting and human resource processes for the organization.

As payroll needs to be processed on a weekly basis, this is a fast-paced role that operates in an environment with multiple deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Payroll and Accounting Functions

Prepares weekly payroll for MCC staff participating in the Washington state Shared Work program and MCC's temporary staffing agency workers;

and bi-monthly payroll for MCC's exempt staff.

Responds to multiple wage garnishment / employment verification and Labor and Industries requests

Ensure vacation and sick time accrual are accurately tracked and reported to employees and temporary staffing workers

Ensures state and federal employment tax reporting is completed, filed and recorded

Prepares A / R and submits invoices to employers for payment

Ensures proper taxes for governmental agencies are collected

Ensures temporary staffing employer contracts are properly processed and filed

Assist in the annual audit process

Human Resource Functions :

Handle all payroll and employee related HR issues as they relate to the regular full-time, part-time staff and temporary staffing workers

Processes all employment paperwork for MCC staff and maintain files

Responsible for ensuring that MCC is in compliance with all Federal, state and local payroll related laws

Identify personnel needs and workforce planning strategies to support the growth of the employment enterprise program

Works cooperatively with all members of the staffing team to develop and implement staffing plans and activities

Experience and Education :

AA or High School Diploma required. Prefer a Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Accounting or payroll

4+ years of experience in accounting or payroll

Previous human resources experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

The ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Intermediate to Advanced level of MS Excel proficiency

Excellent oral and written communication skills

The ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Excellent organizational skills and follow-through

The ability to work on multiple projects and tasks concurrently

Proficiency with QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and Outlook Express

Excellent customer service skills

A positive and professional attitude
