Join our team of engineers designing state-of-the-art, industry-leading flight displays for commercial jet airplanes.As a Systems Engineer in our Air Transport Displays organization, you will be responsible for working with other systems, software and hardware engineers to develop flight display systems for commercial Air Transport airplanes including the Boeing 737, 777x and 787.Primary Responsibilities:Performing all phases of the system development lifecycle including requirements capture, system design and modeling, integrating hardware and software components, system verification and validationWorking directly with other systems, hardware and software engineers to document derived requirements, define internal system interfaces, develop system architectures, integrate system components, and perform system verificationWorking on systems integration labs, simulation environments and using specialized test equipment to debug and testDevelop automated test procedures and software tools to perform systems integration and testingPrepare and present project and/or technical information to peers, internal management and customersEstimate, track, own and report project technical, cost and schedule aspects for assigned scope of workLearn and use internal processes, methods and tools for systems development and documentationPerform work autonomously, with limited supervisionWork on multiple projects to assist in the technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluating alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systemsBasic Qualifications:This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline (STEM degree preferred) and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 7 years of relevant experience is required.Proficient with 1 or more high-level software programming languages, preferably C, C, and/or Python.Experience developing hardware, software or firmware for high-assurance, embedded systems, or at least 2 years of systems engineering experience with embedded systemsExcellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation).The candidate must be able to work successfully in team-centric environments with a wide variety of people and diverse team membersThe candidate must be highly self-motivated, capable of prioritizing multiple tasks and adaptable to changes in assignments and responsibilitiesThis position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 7:30 am to 4:30 pm workday, or beyond a 40 hour work weekPreferred Qualifications:Experience performing multiple phases of the product development lifecycle including planning, requirements definition, design, integration, verification, validation and supportExperience with safety-critical, real-time, embedded system development is highly desirableExperience with avionics or other aircraft system development and certificationExperience developing systems that are compliant with ARP-4754, RTCA DO-178, DO-160 and DO-254Experience with ARINC standards ARINC 429, ARINC 664 and ARINC 661Collins Aerospace Diversity & Inclusion Statement:Diversity drives innovation; inclusion drives success.We believe a multitude of approaches and ideas enable us to deliver the best results for our workforce, workplace, and customers.
