Type: Direct Hire (no contract period!)Customer Job Title: Material Handler-Forklift OperatorShift: 2nd (Monday-Friday 5pm-1am / may have a couple of hours of OT each day as well)Job Description: Looking for forklift operators who are computer literate.Pay rates: $17-$18 with experience. (entry level $15-$16/hour) Having LTL experience may warrant a higher pay rate.FAST PACED ENVIRONMENTLooking for reliable, dedicated people.Great Benefits - Full Medical, profit share, incentive pay for attendance and performance, 401kmatching program, 5-6 hrs PTO every 4 weeks first year.Big Ass Fans, Ice Machines, BreakroomsWritten forklift test as well as on Toyoto sit-down propane 5000lb lifts - 90% of shift will be on the forklift.SUMMARYThe Material Handler loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near center, cross dock, trailers, yard, or work site by performing the following duties.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned) Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Receives items for shipment, inspects visually for identity, quantity, and condition. Checks for obvious damage and segregates items requiring special handling. Opens containers as directed by work instructions or supervisor. Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks and shelves by hand or with forklift or other handling equipment. Loads materials into carrier vehicles and installs strapping, bracing or logistic bars padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit. Completes receiving and shipping documents accurately and completely per company specifications with the scan gun. Counts, weights, and records number of units of materials moved or handled in PII System. Ensures proper identification. Identifies all shipments by proper marking and labeling, including special handling instructions. Coordinates transportation requirements. Coordinates any special handling problems. Gathers data for preparing reports. Warehouses and stores inbound and outbound cargo awaiting processing and/or onward movement. Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together as direct per work instructions. Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment. Conducts safety and equipment checks daily. Operates machinery such as banding, taping, and sealing. Follows all safety procedures. Actively works to improve individual and center safety record. Actively works for continuous quality improvement. Identifies and implements continual improvement initiatives to enhance the performance of the position, team, and company. Places ASC Track and Customs required labels as required. Checks receipt of cargo for obvious OS&D Checks cargo counts, weights, and dimensions and records same in PTI system. Documents pieces, weight, receiving date, LTL or TL carrier, tracking number(s) and account name. Segregate, place and prepare material into a shipping area in order to load merchandise into a trailer. Meet with 5S program (clean all the areas 10 minutes before end of each shift) Prepares orders for Avon using the Avon system Prepares containers according to the required case packs. Able to identify and place material in staging areas for different accounts. Assist in labeling of freight for all accountsQUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variable in standardized situations.COMPUTER SKILLSAble to use scanning equipment.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSForklift certification.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESAbility to read and write English is required.
