The Corporate Safety Director is responsible for updating, developing, overseeing, and growing the safety programs across the ATS Family of Companies, including initiatives to ensure the best possible safety practices to protect employees and partners in daily business operations. The Corporate Director will have both a strategic and operational focus, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, implementing best practices, and fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization. The position will report directly to the General Counsel and will be expected to work closely with operational leaders to drive collaborative safety culture and strategy while providing clear priorities and goals for operational management. Responsibilities:

Develop and facilitate health and safety training programs to comply with OSHA and other relevant State and Federal regulations to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards.

Perform annual/bi-annual safety audits of the ATS FOC offices.

Keep up to date on safety-related legislation and regulations and update compliance policies and procedures as required.

Lead the development and implementation of the ATS FOCs safety strategy while providing a consistent approach to risk management across.

Expand safety leadership skills throughout operational management.

Support business success and continuous improvement through effectively communicating company safety achievements and lessons.

Provide pragmatic guidance to company operations, consistent with the company’s culture and legal responsibilities.

Support M&A safety due diligence of acquisitions and assist with post-closing integration into the company safety programs.

Monitor company safety culture and compliance status with respect to company safety expectations and standards, and work with operational teams to develop and implement improvement strategies.

Help foster strong relationships with our clients, contractors and other business partners to promote a shared commitment to safety.

Facilitate regular Safety Committee meetings, providing guidance and expertise on safety and health matters.

Provide regular progress updates to leadership.

Monitor and evaluate the workplace to ensure compliance with governmental regulatory agencies.

Study, identify, and report causes of past accidents and near misses and develop recommendations and follow-up to prevent recurrences.

Develop strategies to ensure a broad level of employee engagement in Company safety culture and programs.

Other duties and projects as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Safety (or its equivalent);

15-20 years relevant experience, with 7 years minimum experience in a Health and Safety global role

Strong working knowledge of relevant Federal and State safety regulations, including but not limited to: OSHA, DOSH, ANSI, NFPA, & Worker’s Compensation Regulations

Certified Safety Professional

Experience leading safety strategy and effectively influencing the safety culture within a large business environment

Additional necessary recognized qualifications and professional development to work at a global level within an environmental consulting business

Highly effective communicator with the ability to appreciate wider business aims and be capable of integrating safety strategies around common goals

Broad technical understanding of the work undertaken by the ATS FOCs

Exceptional organizational skills & attention to detail.
