Mechanic I

Working under the close direction of senior staff or leadership, this position maintains facility at optimal operation by inspecting, repairing and providing continuous service of equipment and building systems.Completes corrective maintenance requests and preventive maintenance inspections accurately and timely with little assistance. Has ability to work independently. Uses proper tools and equipment.Demonstrates basic service knowledge of life safety features (i.e. fire alarm system, smoke evacuation system, sprinkler system, smoke compartments, fire door operation, etc.)Demonstrates knowledge of departmental policies and procedures manual and Hospital emergency preparedness plans.Demonstrates safe working practices in the work place and maintains work area/tools in a clean, orderly and functional condition.Performs equipment inspection rounds. Demonstrates basic service knowledge of major utility equipment and identifies problem areas. Takes appropriate action in repairs or appropriate steps for correction.Provides timely, legible, correct and complete documentation on work orders, P.M.•s, reports and estimates. Attends daily shop meetings at the beginning and end of each shift and provides any meaningful information to the next shift and the on call team.Uses good judgement in conversing with appropriate personnel to make repairs.
