POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Project Manager, Non-Supervisory for Program Management Office (PMO) is a senior level position reporting to the Director of PMO. The Senior Project Manager provides operations and technical expertise on transuranic (TRU) waste treatment, remediation, packaging, characterization, decontamination, and inventory control. The Senior Project Manager will be the primary resource to solve technical operational related issues with TRU waste remediation, packaging and storage, characterization, and overall efficient, safe, and compliant TRU waste processing. The Senior Project Manager will interface with TRU Program Production Control Manager in analyzing and interpreting inventory data for strategic and tactical planning and mission development as well as the Waste Operations manager to assist with task ready execution of processing campaigns.: Reviews operational performance from a regulatory/safety standpoint and formally reports issues and/or recommendations. Provides feedback to projects on corrective actions to ensure operational risk is minimized. Presents project management related solutions to problems regarding operations, engineering, nuclear and industrial safety, and regulatory issues. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, inventory levels, and potential production or material supply disruptions to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided on-time and at an optimal cost. Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, maintenance and work control, etc. Can be viewed as an expert within a specialty and as highly competent within the broad discipline, both internally and externally EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelors degree in relevant field and at least 15 years of demonstrated and relevant experience. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Detailed knowledge and understanding of facility design, engineering, project management, waste management, and nuclear safety requirements. Expert knowledge and ability to develop and apply highly advanced principles, concepts and techniques in project management involving environmental services, hazardous waste management services, remediation services, and/or decontamination services. Skill and ability to perform critical strategic tasks and to interpret broad strategic requirements and develop and execute plans to satisfy them. Ability to have major impact on organizational success and productivity, with extensive latitude for independent judgment. Ability to communicate effectively at the highest levels. Ability to lead substantial proposal initiatives. Ability to develop and lead large sized projects, including defining scope, objectives and methods. Ability to train and mentor more junior staff Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently Ability to work in a diverse work environment Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening, Demonstrable ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Expertise and knowledge of environmental remediation and waste management projects Strong analytical skills to identify and evaluate quality-affecting issues and risks Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical drawings, specifications. Experience related to procurement documentation and procurement specification, receipt acceptance, supplier evaluations, monitoring supplier performance, and maintaining evaluated supplier list. Experience developing, analyzing, and reporting metrics / performance measures. Lean / Six Sigma certification Causal Analysis course /experience LOCATION Los Alamos, NM at the ta-54 CH-TRU waste remediation project, though majority of work takes place on site, periodic telecommuting may be authorized.
