Staff Accountant

Description Robert Half has a career-building opportunity for a Staff Accountant with experience and skill to join their team on a permanent basis. In this position, the Staff Accountant prepares journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will also be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting throughout the monthly close. You will lend your skills to developing and implementing accounting policies. Also, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position plays an intricate part in producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity in the Marion, Iowa area, at a company where effort is rewarded.Major responsibilities

Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls. Also ensure that accounting procedures comply with GAAP

Ad hoc reporting and performing special projects upon request

Organize and review a variety of financial data, reporting it in a way that is useful and understandable

Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules

Compose analyses for income statements and monthly balance sheets for management reporting

Manage depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

Thorough experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations

Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation

Produce journal entries and perform the month end close under minimal supervision

Periodically maintain and reconcile journal entries

Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

Partake in various department-wide initiatives

Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation Requirements - Experience with ERP systems

Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills

Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

Spreadsheet and database capabilities

Ad Hoc Reporting experience highly desired

Knowledge of account reconciliation

Balance Sheet Reconciliation experience desired

Proficiency in month end closings

Month end closings experience preferred

Adeptness in Microsoft Excel

Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills

BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines

Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
