Based in the Lapeer, Michigan area, this opening for a Controller is a full-time position. This position is for candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will be essential for this role, and a creative type who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation

Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month

Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible

Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet client expectations

RequirementsMicrosoft Excel experience desired

Self-starter and strong ethical standards

Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

CPA or MBA preferred

Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail

Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued

Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

Excellent attention to detail
