Reg Nurse

DescriptionDepartment: Operating Room- RecoveryPosition Summary:Assures that quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the Michigan Nurse Practice Act, McLaren Lapeer Region, and nursing department standards. Utilizing the nursing process, functions primarily in direct patient care. Participates in maintaining a safe patient care environment. Maintains patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and respects patient rights. Begins leadership and preceptor participation when performance demonstrates ability.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Provides professional nursing care directly to patients

Administers medication to patients as directed

Initiates and monitors IV's and IV medication

Assesses patient condition using vital signs, test results, monitor readings, etc.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse license

BLS certification by American Heart Association or equivalent with in 3 months

Within six months of hire into department, ACLS required for RNs in Critical Care, Emergency, Endoscopy, PACU, SDS Penn, Orthopedics

TNCC certified within 1 year

2 years previous experience as an RN in PreOp/PACU

Preferred Qualifications:Previous work experience within the specific unit specialty

Specialty certification within the specific unit
