If you like the movie "Top Gun", you will love the Air Combat Test and Training Instrumentation (TTI) Engineering Department.This position is for a senior-level Hardware/Systems Engineering professional.The TTI Engineering Department develops state-of-the-art test and training range products for cryptographic, datalink, networking, and command and control applications. We specialize in the development of high quality, highly secure training solutions for the U.S. military, laying the foundation for Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) capabilities. TTI Engineering is responsible for all product line and engineering tasks related to the design, analysis, test and certification of Air Combat Training systems, maturing products from concept phase through accreditation and factory production.Our Hardware Engineering team is looking for a Hardware Engineer (preferably with Systems Engineering background or experience) to drive execution excellence in a fast growing Air Combat Training market within the Collins Aerospace Mission Systems. This position will primarily focus on project execution with influence into requirements definition, design, and development of both ground and airborne subsystems supporting next generation test and training systems for military fighters.Job Responsibilities:Expand and apply domain knowledge, process knowledge and knowledge of associated products and sub-systemsCreate, capture, review, trace and modify requirements, applying the knowledge of processes, tools and methods in the management and tracking of requirements baselineDesign hardware to meet rigorous military requirements for environment, functionality, price, and Size Weight Power (SWaP)Evaluate impacts of the system hardware design on cost, schedule, technical performance, and testing and validationTest and verify designs that meet documented hardware requirementsContribute to the development of functional and interface specifications for hardware and software implementationCreate and run verification and validation tests for products and sub- systems of moderate complexityEstimate, track, own and report status relating to technical, cost and schedule performance for assigned scope of workCreate and present task status and technical solutions to team members, engineering leadership, and potentially customersDemonstrate an understanding of internal processes, methods and tools for systems development and documentation effortsInterpretation of operational concepts and customer use cases into requirements and design necessary to execute a training mission through pre-mission planning, mission execution and post mission analysisUtilize strong interaction and interpersonal skills to perform in a highly diverse engineering teamIndividual job duties may varyWork with their team and other team leads to resolve complex issuesThis position is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A comprehensive relocation package is available for qualified candidates.QualificationsThis position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.Must be a U.S. CitizenMust have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
