CARPENTER 2 JOB DESCRIPTION

Definition: A Carpenter 2 is defined as a craftsman with extensive skill and experience level, able to manage job sites with multiple workers and trade contractors.

Job Requirements

Proven experience in residential remodeling with strong trade knowledge. Commercial a plus.

Must have moderate hands-on carpentry experience including the use of hand tools and power tools.

Excellent communication skills.

Results driven and have the ability to effectively manage and follow through when given multiple priorities.

Basic computer and hand held electronics device knowledge.

Must have driver’s license verification and approval by ASI Insurance Company.

Ability to manage subcontractors and employees to perform as needed for the project.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years in many phases of residential and commercial construction. Supervisory experience is a plus, but not required.

Knowledge

Extensive knowledge of residential construction and remodeling trades, practices, procedures, plumb, level, square, rise, run, roofing, techniques, tools and equipment, risk management, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, safety and applicable building codes.

Proficient at blueprint and design reading.

Able to do layout, some framing, finish carpentry of typical projects, including kitchens and baths, room remodeling, building stairs, finish carpentry.

Interpersonal and Communications Skills

Able to clearly explain steps, provide clear directions, and answer questions about construction processes to employees and subcontractors.

Adept at establishing relationships with all parties involved in the construction process that facilitate harmonious working relationships during project, and permit prompt resolution of problems and conflicts as they occur.

Organizational Skills

Excellence with logistic and material management.

Able to quickly identify potential schedule conflicts and generate and implement needed modifications.

Able to complete and fulfill paperwork required for material purchasing and time sheets.

Problem Solving

Job requires that alternative solutions be quickly generated to resolve scheduling conflicts, project delays, and design modifications.

Responsibilities

Meet clients’ expectations and communicate with them.

Assist in optimizing the short term schedule with project manager and superintendant.

Identify and optimize design details for efficient project.

Ensure that all work is performed in a workmanlike and professional quality manner.

Provide information to supervisors and coworkers.

Ensure job meets strict levels of quality.

Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.

Working Conditions

Most of the time is spent working at job sites. Substantial driving is required.

Physical

Job requires ability to perform tasks on all areas and aspects of construction project. Requires ability to climb ladders and crawl for distances.

Job requires ability to work with tools, lumber and materials. Ability to lift and manipulate objects greater than 50lbs as needed.

Hazards

Normal hazards associated with construction environment.

Tools required

Basic hand tools, power tools including a circular saw, sawzall, screw gun, jig saw, drill, and flashlight.

Truck with hitch a plus.
