Perfusionist

Position Summary :

As assigned by the Chief of Clinical Perfusion and under the direction of the primary surgeon, the perfusionist shall set-up and operate such devices as the Heart Lung machine for bypass procedures, ECLS / ECMO, Ventricular Assists Devices, Intra-aortic balloon pumps, auto-transfusion devices.

He / she will also provide surgical back-up for procedures performed in the catheterization lab and hybrid rooms. This list of duties shall not be considered totally inclusive of all services provided.

The Perfusionist is also responsible for performing supportive administrative duties for Pulse Heart Institute Perfusion Services.

These include, but are not limited to the maintenance of accreditation, POCT, quality improvement projects, teaching and training MHS staff, development and support of programmatic extensions within the healthcare system as assigned by the PHI Director of Perfusion Services.

ECMO support and care, intra-hospital patient transport, and satellite program support may be necessary at times.

Minimum Requirements :

Recent Pediatric / Congenital Heart Surgery preferred

Education / Licenses / Certifications :

BS or BSN degree

Graduation from a CAAHEP accredited school of cardiovascular Certified or certification-eligible as per guidelines of the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion

Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion within 24 months of hire date

Current BLS certification

This position will work between the hours of 6 : 00 a.m. and 4 : 00 p.m. Staff flex based on O.R. schedule needs. Will also cover call at night and on weekends.

Will be in holiday rotation.
