Wyatt Ranches is seeking an individual to fill a newly-allocated position for a vaquero or ranch hand position at the Los Robles Division. The Los Robles Division consists of seven ranches, located in the area of Agua Dulce; both north and south thereof, on Farm to Market Road 70, in Nueces, Jim Wells, and Kleberg Counties.

Interested applicants SHOULD MAKE APPLICATION AT THE GATEHOUSE of this division, (the location is available via Google-maps at "Wyatt Ranches - Los Robles Division), Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 4 PM (excluding ranch holidays). Also, applicants may apply at any other division's gatehouse for this position. The position will be filled as soon as a qualified applicant is selected and when the said applicant completes hair follicle drug screening and background reviews.

The starting wage is $39,000 per year, before bonuses, and increases are commensurate with the applicant’s experience and other qualifications gained over a period of time. Although not required, experience is preferred with constructing and repairing fences and corrals, all aspects of caring for cattle in a cow-calf operation, repairing water troughs and water lines, minor water well repair, operating a closed cab tractor with applicable implements, general ranch maintenance including the painting of fences and appurtenances, minor vehicle maintenance, and equestrian knowledge. However, the Ranches will provide training for those lacking experience in certain aspects required for the position. Other duties may be assigned by the Division Livestock Foreman (Walter Mencias) of the Los Robles Division.

Wyatt Ranches provides a 2020 Ford Super Duty take-home and assigned vehicle for all vaqueros, complete uniforms (free shirts, Wrangler jeans, Schaefer brush jackets, Carhart winter jackets, western hats, winter caps, gloves, cooling rags, etc.), free laundry service for the uniform shirts and jeans by UniFirst, ten paid sick days, numerous paid holidays and extended paid holiday periods, two to four weeks paid vacation relating to tenure, health insurance including prescription and mental health coverages, 24 hour access to an RN, dental insurance (the Ranches pay 80 percent of the associate’s insurance and 80 percent of the associate’s family’s insurance), and life insurance with AD&D (the Ranches pay 100 percent of the associate’s life insurance and AD&D), vision insurance, and all associates are able to participate in the Ranches’ 401-K investment program.

This position also includes all expense-paid-housing at a three bedroom home with a carport situated on one of the ranches at this division, where the Ranches pay for all utilities, including DirecTV, and all the appliances (including washer, dryer, and dishwasher) are provided for and maintained by the Ranches. The associate is only responsible for the landscape maintenance (which may be performed with the Ranches’ riding zero turn lawn mowing equipment and during work hours) and the minor maintenance (such as changing light bulbs and air conditioning filters) at the structure.

Usual hours for all vaqueros are from 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday, and then on Saturday from 8 AM until noon or one o’clock (however the vaquero is still paid for the whole day). In addition, the vaquero is given a paid Saturday off each month. The Land & Livestock Manager (Eddie Pena) or the Division Livestock Foreman (Walter Mencias) may adjust hours as deemed necessary to meet the division’s needs. The vaqueros must be reachable by two-way radio at 8 AM and Departure time from the Ranches is no earlier than 4 PM.
