JOB SUMMARY

The person in this position works as a member of a multidisciplinary team serving families/caregivers and their children ages birth to 3 years old with identified developmental concerns. As the primary coach for an assigned caseload of 20-25 families, responsibilities include: evaluations to determine eligibility for early intervention services, treatment of children ages 0 to 3 years old, coaching and support of parents and caregivers to meet designed outcomes within the Individual Family Service Plan. Collaboration with interdisciplinary team including other speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, early childhood specialists and family resource coordinators to support all enrolled families is required. It is preferred that applicants have a minimum of three years experience working in pediatrics, experience and training with feeding and other skilled populations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Evaluation of children 0-3 years of age to determine eligibility for early intervention services using provided evaluation tools and protocols.

2. Active participation as a contributing member of an interdisciplinary team.

3. Works as primary service provider with families/caregivers and FRCs to develop and implement Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) for assigned families and children.

4. Provides services within each family and child’s daily routines in a natural environment such as the families’ home and/or childcare setting.

5. Provides coaching to parents/caregivers in order to support child’s developmental outcomes outlined in the child’s IFSP.

6. Maintains all required record keeping, documentation, and reporting in a timely manner.

7. Collaborates with other service providers within team and in the community in order to provide coordinated services for families.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/ TRAINING

1. Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

2. Minimum of three years’ experience working with children ages birth to 5 years old.

3. Feeding experience/education preferred.

4. Maintained and current licensures including: Certificate of Clinical Competence through ASHA and Washington State license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist through the Department of Health.

5. Valid Washington State Driver’s License and good driving record required. A three-year driving abstract must be submitted upon request.

Work sites include office work environment and visits within natural environments of children/ families we serve. Requires travel within Whatcom County.

Currently, all services are delivered in a virtual platform due to the State’s restrictions for in home visits to slow the spread of COVID-19.
