Application Developer

Summary:The Application Developer at Southern Management Corporation (SMC) is responsible for developing and maintaining software applications in support of the SMC business. SMC has traditionally used outside vendor packages or third-party consulting companies to build its applications, the Application Developer will assist us in implementing our new strategy of inhouse developing the next generation of business focused applications. Our strategy is to use technology as a differentiator in the marketplace by building applications in house with a common architecture and reusable design to enables us to quickly respond to the needs of the business. This position will be part of a small development team to make that happen.Responsibilities:Understand current and future technology needs

Develop maintainable, scalable branch and customer applications in support of the technology and business strategy utilizing some or all of the following technologies:

.Net Core

Blazor

SQL Server

DevOps

Azure

Xamarin or other mobile technologies

Recommend development, design, and coding guidelines and strategies in support of department goals

Develop an understanding of all application needs within the organization

Translate business requirements into technical requirements for enhancements and new applications

Perform regular application monitoring to provide proactive issue resolution

Provide insight for process improvements across functional areas

Other tasks as assigned

Primary Duties:Design, build and deploy applications

Update and maintain current applications

Understand business needs and gather requirements for new and existing applications

Perform and coordinate system testing, user acceptance testing and beta testing

Create and maintain process and system documentation

Assist with creation of development team processes

Collaborate with teams to integrate applications

Contribute to training and roll out of applications

Build highly reusable software components that can be used throughout our application solutions.

Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree or equivalent experience

0-3 years of experience in application development in C#

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Expertise with Visual Studio

C#, .Net Core, MVC or Razor or Blazor, SQL, Azure

Source management system like GitHub

Azure DevOps or similar

Understanding of SOLID design principles

Ability to interface with the business leaders

Good communication skills

Works effectively as part of a team

Proactive and able to work in an autonomous work environment

Proven data gathering and analytical skills
