Role Overview

This position requires a fully skilled and experienced machinist, with strong customer focus and excellent communications skills.

Performs complex technical tasks which contribute to the planning and execution of engineering projects. Leads lower level support staff to confer with engineers on details and implications of test procedures and results.

May serve as a resource on varied tasks.

Primary Responsibilities :

Work within all shop safety standards and regulations

Fabricate, assemble and repair complex mechanical assemblies

Program and machine complex multi-axis components for development prototypes and fixtures

Aid Engineering in technical questions pertaining to machining concepts, materials, finishing and product design

Experienced and skilled at designing and fabricating fixtures to aid in creating complex components

Experienced and skilled at machining components made of various materials through using and programming machine shop tools such as 3 and 4 axis CNC mills, lathes, grinders, and other tools used in the fabrication of components

Must be proficient at reading engineering drawings and working with engineers and customers to understand the design intent of the component and / or assembly

Apply advanced knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, engineering drawings, metal properties, layout and machining procedures to determine the most efficient and accurate machining methods and sequence of operations to produce parts

Ability to set up and indicate complex and tight tolerance fixtures

Ability to understand and effectively communicate manufacturability concepts to engineers and customers

Ability to plan and prioritize work to meet schedules and quality requirements

Must be willing to work overtime when required to meet customer milestones

Must display excellent teamwork and problem solving skills

Excellent verbal / written communication and organizational skills

Good computer skills in MS Office applications such as Word and Visio

Experience with CAD software with DXF input and output such as AutoCAD

Perform work with limited or no supervision

Bending, stretching and lifting may be required up to 70 pounds

Ergo - May require : Sustained standing and sitting, reaching, prolonged head and neck positioning, Finger dexterity and manipulation

Basic Qualifications :

AA / AS degree or other 2-year post high school training with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
