Summary: The primary purpose of your job position is to provide direct nursing care to residents, and to supervise the day to day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Services or Nurse Supervisor to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Must Possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an LPN or LPN/LVN in this state Must demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the resident Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action and to remain calm during emergency situations Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/ personnel and the general public Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and team concept Must be able to follow oral and written instructions Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities Must posses leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the program, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, ect. that are necessary for providing quality care Must possess the ability to display patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices Must not pose a direct threat to the safety of other individuals in the workplace Must be able to complete all other tasks as assigned by facility administrator, Director of Nursing, Nursing Supervisor, or designee Must be able to read, write and speak the English Language Qualifications: Previous experience in a patient care setting is helpful but not required. On the job training is providedEducation and/ or Experiences: Must possess, as a minimum, a nursing degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved LPN/LVN program.Working Conditions: Works in office Areas as well as throughout the facility, and in residents rooms Moves intermittently during working hours Is subject to frequent interruptions Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, family members, ect. Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, ect. Communications with the medical staff, nursing services, and other department directors Attends and participates in continuing education programs Works beyond normal duty hours, on weekends and holidays, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, ect.) Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, ect. throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminates Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, Diseases, conditions, ect. including TB, AIDS and Hepatitis B May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals Physical and Sensory Requirements: Must be able to move intermitte
