Purpose : The QC Supervisor is responsible for the qualitycontrol process upon receipt of product, during on hand inventory, and productselected for customer shipment.

Responsible for reporting of COC and internalKPI’s for the division operations and sales teams.

Job Responsibilities :

Supervise and direct quality control team; perform all necessary supervisory functions to effectively and efficiently manage personnel, including :

Maintain a qualified staff;

Communicate areas of responsibility and performance expectations;

Conduct timely and effective employee evaluations;

Ensure proper training of employees;

Foster a cooperative and harmonious work environment to maximize employee morale and productivity.

Inspect incoming product, working with Receiving, as product is unloaded from trucks. Make temperature notations on bills of lading.

Collaborate with DC buyers on any quality control issues. Create COC's within ALBSYS for products arriving with poor quality and arrange for federal inspections if requested by vendor

Monitor & accurately enter all quality information into computer system in a timely manner. Assist with billing discrepancies as required.

File reports daily with Source and buyers to assure high quality standards met. File reports to Albert’s Purchasing Dept.

and buyers on vendor credits, submitting to corporate; follow through to ensure credits are taken.

Continuously monitor assigned metrics to meet or exceed shrink goals for total quality credits, dumps / repack, and vendor credits

Responsible for a daily walk through to monitor & assure that all products are tagged for sorting, dumping or stickering.

Complete waste charts and calculate cost of loss daily.

Oversee daily operations of Quality Control Department; help employees as necessary.

Schedule staff according to Quality Control schedule. Monitor work hours to control overtime.

Submit all discrepancies and report damaged product due to refrigeration or handling issues to trucking companies & suppliers.

Assist with special projects as assigned & complete in a timely manner.

Monitor and gather information regarding case counts sorted, staff hours & equipment needs.

Monitor product inspections every day & report to Sales on all quality issues. Work with Sales Department to sell push, distressed & close-dated items.

Inform QC staff of items that require sorting or are old and unsalable.

Review customer credits everyday and track by both dollar amount and detail. Work with Sales on credits given. Inspect customer returns and work with the Sales staff to determine if saleable.

Responsible for quality picks for sales department. Inspect orders and select the best product by lot numbers or do not send if below customer grade.

Work with Operations staff on warehouse safety, equipment training & cleanliness of warehouse.

Responsible for following and ensuring Quality Team performs in accordance with HACCP and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location.

Job Requirements :

Able to successfully complete all QC Core Training requirements for this position.

Ability to effectively lead, coach, inspire, motivate, train and mentor personnel.

Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced environment; able to set priorities for self & others, effectively plan work activities, meet deadlines and accomplish team objectives;

able to successfully manage & execute multiple projects and processes simultaneously.

Strong attention to detail.

Excellent data entry skills.

Good computer skills, including MS Excel, Word and Outlook; competent to learn and adapt to new computer applications, system upgrades and other technology as necessary.

Able to develop and maintain effective, positive working relationships with a diverse group of individuals and exemplify these qualities in a leadership role.

High regard for all safety with ability to demonstrate and lead by example.

Good written / verbal communication skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong sense of urgency while remaining calm under pressure.

Able to safely operate a forklift, pallet jack and similar power equipment and obtain appropriate certifications.

BA / BS degree in related field, or equivalent training and experience.

Minimum 5+ years related Quality Control experience; thorough knowledge of quality management practices and statistical techniques.

Familiarity with fresh produce (quality expectations, varieties, case packs, etc.).

At least 3 years supervisory experience. Working knowledge of good delivery guidelines for fresh produce.

Must be able to safely operate warehouse equipment, such as forklift and pallet jack; forklift & pallet jack certification required.

Must have valid driver’s license.

English / Spanish bi-lingual skills a plus.
