PROJECT ARCHITECT

Job Type: Full-time or part-time, direct hire position with benefits (NOT a “temp” or “contractor” position)

Location: Bel Air, MD 21015

I represent an architectural firm in Harford County, Maryland.

We have an opening for a project architect to join our team.

Under the supervision of the project manager, the PROJECT ARCHITECT will design building projects.

PROJECT DESIGN TYPES INCLUDE –- restaurant, religious, gyms, general offices, medical, private schools, factories, high hazard, child day care, nursing home, retail display, single-family home, townhouses, assisted living, group homes, hotels, factory and storage.

BUILDING SYSTEMS DESIGN WORK INCLUDE -– exterior building shell, site-work, site utilities, landscaping, interior building shell, cabinets & countertops, room finishes, structural sub-grade, foundations, structural frame, hvac, electrical power, lighting, telecom, fire alarm, fire sprinkler, & plumbing.

PROJECT PHASES INCLUDE – existing conditions survey (10%), programming (1%), site analysis (7%), schematic design (20%), design development (30%), construction documents (30%), building permit application (1%), & construction administration (1%).

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Employee must live within commuting distance to Stoker Associates office in Bel Air, MD. Presently living within 1 hour commute time to Stoker Associates office is a requirement for employee.

A 4 year, 5 year, or master’s degree in architecture from an NCARB accredited school in the USA is a requirement.

At least TWO YEARS of work experience after graduation in an architect's office working on commercial projects in the USA is required.

Architect license in Maryland is not required, but is helpful.

Stoker Associates uses various software, including but not limited to, Chief Architect for 3-d design work, Microsoft Word for word documents, Adobe Acrobat for making pdf files, Visual for 3-d lighting design, Wrightsoft for hvac design, and Autocad for 2-d technical drawings. A working knowledge and ability to use 2-d autocad software is required.

Good social, oral, and writing skills to communicate with the public and other project team members is required.

Compensation: Compensation would be an hourly rate of $15 to $30 per hour, or yearly rate $30,000-$60,000 depending on experience & number of hours worked. Job benefits are negotiable and may be included.
