Job Summary
Responsible for operation and proficient understanding of blow mold machinery including palletizers, strapping machines, wrapping machines, forklifts, and overall flow of product.
Operation of blow mold machines involves performing short-cycle, repetitive, and control functions in set patterns to attain high-quality production output that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
Specific Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Maintains standard production objectives through proper machine operation and accurately records production. Communicates production information at shift change.
Knows and practices safe and proper start-up and shut-down procedures for each machine.
Performs minor adjustments to machinery involving hand movements and simple hand tools to ensure smooth, continued machine operation.
Has authority to stop machines / production to communicate machine problems and breakdowns to Production Coordinator and / or Maintenance.
Inspects product for quality defects. Has authority to stop production due to quality issues, including raw materials.
Maintains housekeeping of all assigned areas. This includes applying Good Manufacturing Practices to meet plant goals.
Reports daily on Master Cleaning Schedule.
Forklift operator certified and when assigned to forklift operation a) perform daily safety and operational checks and, b) operate forklift in a safe and efficient manner.
Move finished product with forklift from the production area by a) unloading, moving and storing incoming materials and, b) checking identification, reporting shortages or damaged materials, storing stacking and arranging material for first in / first out usage.
Reporting daily production scrap in computer system.
Ability to read, write and understand English.
Actively participates in Quality training and Good Manufacturing Practice meetings to assist in continuous improvement of plant operations.
Follows all Amcor established safety rules and guidelines and as trained during the various safety-related training programs.
Understands and communicates all hazards and safety issues to co-workers and managers / supervisors. Properly uses all personal protective equipment.
Performs other related duties as directed by the Production Coordinators and / or Site Manager.
Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the shift Production Coordinator.
Job Specifications and Requirements :
Education and Experience
Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Some post-secondary education preferred (i.e., Technical or Vocational education;).
Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Other Requirements :
Valid forklift license.
Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values and enter this information into an on-line data-base accurately.
A strong mathematical ability is essential.
Ability to visually distinguish fine variations in color and other visual defects.
Proficient hand / eye coordination to operate equipment.
Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions and independent judgment calls based on the situation at hand.
Ability to efficiently and effectively use a computer and related software.
Ability to work all shifts and required overtime.

Level of Authority :

Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift / push / pull 70 pounds on a continual basis : this is a heavy physical demand job as outlined by the U.
S. Department of Labor. Incumbent is required to stand / walk for up to 11 hours per shift on a concrete floor and is frequently required to do the following :
Lift up to 120 lbs.
Carry up to 50 lbs.
push / pull up to 900 lbs. using a hydraulic hand jack (this is the equivalent of a static push / pull of approximately 70 lbs.)
Must frequently squat / bend / kneel / reach / etc. in order to carry out the essential functions of the position.
Climb stairs / ladders up to 15 feet high
Lift / reach overhead with a 7 pound top frame off stack and place on bulk pallet configuration approximately every 10 to 15 minutes
Reach across palletizer bed 54 to 60 to straighten / pick up fallen bottles continuously when operating bulk palletizer.
