The Youth Treatment Specialist is responsible in providing daily care, counsel and supervision to the adolescents living within a residential home with youth ranging in age from 6-18 years. The Youth Treatment Specialist assists in overseeing the treatment of individual residents and managing the daily operations of the residential unit. Those with interests in criminal justice, applied behavior analysis, human trafficking, Autism, substance abuse, social work, and occupational therapy are encouraged to apply. Below there is a list of different openings and residential programs within Wedgwood.

The Boelkins program houses young males ranging in age from 6-12 years old that are often victims of abuse or neglect, and have histories of mental health or behavioral issues. During their placement, they learn the life skills required to live within a family unit.

The DeVos-Crossroads program serves adolescent males ranging in age from 12-15 years old, who are often lower cognitively functioning and have histories of abuse or neglect and sexual behavior issues.

The Riebel program serves male youth ranging in age from 12-15 years old who have been victims of abuse and/or neglect, who have histories of mental health issues, or have had involvement within the criminal justice system.

The Van-Andel Summit program is a co-ed substance abuse recovery residential treatment program with adolescents ranging in age from 12-18 years old.

The VanderArk program serves children with developmental disabilities. This can include both male and female children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger’s, or those who were affected by Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Currently our program includes those who are verbal and nonverbal, and are lower functioning cognitively, socially, and behaviorally.

Qualifications:

Applicant must be at least 20 years of age

High school diploma required

Must have a valid driver’s license

Additional education and/or certification in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Women’s Studies, Childhood Development or a related field preferred.

Prior experience supervising a developmentally disabled individual preferred.

Ability to pivot, bend, twist and stoop while bearing weight of individuals served.

Ability to lift 50 lbs. non-stationary weight through the approved technique is required.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the home and shift supervisors.

Providing daily care, counsel, and supervision to adolescents ages 6-18 in the residential program.

Assisting in overseeing the treatments programs of individual residents and managing operations of the residential unit.

Participation in recreational activities when they are scheduled.

Meal preparation in the residential home.

Status: Part-Time Available

Schedule: Rotating between 1st and 2nd shift, 3 out of 4 weekends per month.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
