Job Description

Overview:

Seeking a Proposal Writer to work with business development and technical staff to draft concise, compliant, and compelling responses to federal proposal requests. Proposal Writer must be able to quickly review federal requirements documents, outline a response, gather information through research and interviews, and write a polished final draft with minimal direction. Proposal Writer should understand the federal proposal management process and have high standards for editing and writing.

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Write winning responses to RFPs, TOPRs, and RFIs using IIA’s branding guidelines and templates
  • Manage writing assignments to deliver responses on tight schedules
  • Build compliance matrices and develop compliant outlines
  • Coordinate internal and teammate data calls and graphics work
  • Facilitate the development of solution concepts using storyboards or similar techniques
  • Manage and track multiple opportunities to ensure no amendments or modifications are missed
  • Schedule and facilitate team meetings and color reviews
  • Work for proposal manager or independently, depending upon the assignment
  • Develop templates for staffing, data collection, resumes, past performance, and decision gate reviews
  • Manage proposal documents in SharePoint site

Required Skills:

  • 2+ years writing federal proposals
  • Shipley or comparable proposal development training
  • Excellent English grammar editing and proofing skills
  • Ability to translate complex technical topics into plain English and graphics
  • Outstanding analytical, communication and organizational skills
  • Sound business judgment
  • Strong work ethic and ability to juggle multiple high priority tasks
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends if needed to deliver response on time

Qualifications

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience as a proposal coordinator or proposal manager
  • Graphics, SharePoint, or web development skills
  • Technical knowledge of IT, data analytics, cybersecurity, R&D, or systems engineering
  • Knowledge of federal acquisition regulations or product licensing
  • Market knowledge of specific federal agencies
  • Knowledge of federal market intelligence tools

Education:

BA or BS degree, preferably in English, IT, or engineering topics

Additional Information

This positions requires the ability and maintain a Public Trust Clearance. Must be either a Green Card Holder or a US Citizen to be eligible for the Public Trust Clearance.
