Job Description

The Quality Technician is responsible for supporting plant quality compliance, product quality improvement and process capability. This position leads continuous improvement activities to improve product and process quality and leads root cause and corrective action activities to resolve field and in-plant quality issues.OBJECTIVES:

  • Lead process improvements and implementation of a “quality culture”
  • Improve quality of assigned products, processes, manufacturing areas and outcomes.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions to resolve quality related issues

DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Improve process discipline through deployment of basic quality tools (ex. Standard work, Layered Process Audits).
  • Drive process capability through deployment of quality control tools (CpK analysis, SPC, etc.)
  • Audit products or processes in assigned work areas.
  • Report/flag quality issues immediately to process owners
  • Assist in the training of what is acceptable and what is not to produce a quality product.
  • Cross train in other areas in the department to be proficient in all jobs in the department
  • Other duties as assigned.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Quality and Manufacturing Operations Leadership.
  • Plant Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Line Supervisors, Quality Engineers, Quality Technicians, Auditors, Inspectors

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years industrial experience in which the candidate had responsibility for the development and implementation of product and/or process quality in a large scale manufacturing environment.
  • 3-5 years of quality /process engineering in a leadership role preferred.Science and design related roles will be considered
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and other software used to track and manage the business.
  • Experience with gauge calibration preferred.
  • Experience with leading and training teams preferred.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints preferred.
  • Must be dependable and responsible.
  • Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Equipped with proper attire appropriate to entering production area, including, PPE – safety glasses, steel-toed safety shoes, and hearing protection
