Job Duties:

  • As a Paralegal you will provide both billable and non-billable assistance to the General Litigation practice group and direct support to the Managing Partner of the office as needed.
  • On any given day you will be providingassistance to the attorneys, and work in concert with the support staff in the General Litigation Dept on multiple requests and projects. Those may include:
  • Draft deposition notices, extensions, standard discovery results, HIPPA releases.
  • Scheduling: deposition, trial preparation, court reporters, defense counsel meetings, internal meetings, meetings w/treating physicians/fact witnesses & counsel if applicable.
  • Research as requested by attorneys.
  • Draft & design demonstratives.
  • Analyze damages claims (reviewing bills, creating spreadsheet comparison).
  • E-File experience, comfort level with learning and adhering to filling requirements among a variety of platforms.
  • Perform e-billing maintenance: submitting budgets, managing contested bills, overseeing timekeeper submissions, communicating with accounting department.
  • Follow up on medical requests and prepare electronic/hard copy organization files for the use by attorneys.
  • Retrieve and organize pleadings and other case documents from court dockets, Document Management Software, or litigation support software for review by attorneys.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate preferred
  • Minimum 5 years. experience
  • Proficient in MS Office and a willingness to learn new software
  • Exceptional interpersonal sills and a high degree of initiative
  • Independent judgement with excellent troubleshooting and follow-through skills in order to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, detail-oriented work environment.
  • Advanced skills to communicate both in written and verbally
  • Ability to research and pick things up quickly
