Job Description

The Quality Technician reports to the Quality Manager and is responsible for Quality support within the manufacturing facility, including essential Quality functions supporting the improvement of the overall Quality Management System.

Essential Functions

  • Participate in vendor and internal/external customer corrective actions for overall Quality improvement
  • Initiate and follow-up on customer complaints, process and vendor corrective actions to determine root cause and corrective action
  • Guide Production Assembly Technicians and ensure completeness of data
  • Maintain Quality inspection records, i.e., test logs, etc.
  • Perform dimensional checks on parts, fixtures, etc.
  • Conduct random inspections and testing of finished goods
  • Support rejected material process by initiating, and following-up on Nonconforming Material Reports (NCMR) issued internally and to vendors
  • Perform First Piece Approval (FPA) inspections and measurements
  • Coordinate Production Start Authorization (PSA) reviews for customer test units
  • Create and distribute internal Quality alerts
  • Provide key performance metrics data, including First Time Pass (FTP)
  • Contribute to warranty reduction improvement
  • Maintain Key Process Indicator (KPI) Quality metrics boards
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with other departments, i.e., Manufacturing, Purchasing, Engineering, etc., verbally and written
  • Ability to assume new responsibilities and multi-task various projects
  • Drive a culture ensuring a safe and healthy workplace

Qualifications

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of Quality experience in industrial manufacturing
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience with corrective action processes that demonstrates strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with scales, squares, micrometers, calipers, height gages, indicators, optical comparator, and other measuring equipment
  • Proficient reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, assembly instructions, and bills of material
  • Demonstrated success delivering results in a continuous improvement environment
  • Able to lift 50LB, bend, stoop, twist, walk, and stand for extended periods

Preferred

  • Associate degree
  • More than 2-years Quality experience in industrial manufacturing
