Product Line Director - Battery Thermal Management

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

Responsible for guiding the success of the BTM (Battery Thermal Management) product line and leads the cross-functional team that is responsible for improving it.

This role sets the strategy, roadmap, and feature definition for the product or product line. Provides the deep product expertise needed to lead the organization and make strategic product decisions.

Act as the primary axis of decision making for the company on matters relating to the product line. Manage the BTM product line over its whole lifecycle, in order to drive profitable growth and be best positioned in the market for long-term success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Strategy :

Leads the process to formulate, document and communicate the product strategy for BTM

Works with BU Management, Strategy & Sales to translate the product strategy into a business plan

Conducts strategic reviews to monitor and ensure execution of the strategy

Defines milestones and metrics to measure the effectiveness of strategic initiatives

Reports on strategy implementation to management

Business Analysis & Financial Performance :

Monitors business environment in order to identify market and product trends and translates those into opportunities addressable for the organization

Prioritizes opportunities and establishes and leads cross-functional teams in addressing the selected opportunities

Analyses and monitors financial & commercial performance with the help of Controlling and Sales team (Revenue & Gross Margin) and uses relevant information to prepare strategic decisions

Drives VA / VE activity to achieve targeted gross margin levels of the product portfolio.

Defines market pricing & helps to define cost and selling price targets; defines and drives initiatives to reach targets

Identifies and addresses hurdles and barriers to achieving the business plan

OTHER CORE FUNCTIONS

Market & Competition Analysis :

Engages with the customer to deeply understand the value proposition validity and to drive the business development in the market.

Helps to collect and communicate market and competitor information as a basis for strategic decision making; triggers and supports necessary Market Research

Triggers relevant product benchmarking and consolidates and communicates respective results

Together with Sales helps to collect, consolidate, and communicate critical customer information

Monitors IP situation with the support of the Intellectual Property team

Product & Process Innovation :

Translates customer needs, mega trends & enabling technologies into product performance objectives and respective directions for the innovation process

Defines, documents and manages product portfolio roadmap

Defines and presents value proposition for innovation projects

Defines technical and commercial product targets related to innovation projects

Closely collaborates with Advanced Engineering during innovations projects

Other :

Formulates and presents business cases for investments in R&D, Manufacturing, M&A, etc. Provides internal product related training;

upon request provides support in interaction with customer; additional assignments based on mutual agreement with Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related area of study

5+years of experience in technical and commercial product related context of battery technologies

Strong capability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams

Inspirational visionary, that possesses high-energy and is driven by a bias for action

Fluent in English (written and spoken)
