Position Overview

We seek an entry level Solar Operations and Maintenance Technician to learn and grow with our company. The O&M Technician will assist with all aspects of solar maintenance and repair. This individual will work directly with the Director of Operations and Maintenance to complete both preventive and reactive maintenance, as well as troubleshooting all major components of our solar arrays.

Responsibilities

Report to the Director of Operations and Maintenance and work closely with the Director of Construction and the Asset Management team.

Assist with semi-annual, top-to-bottom inspections of all solar arrays in our fleet.

Assist with all scheduled and unscheduled solar array maintenance activities with the goal of optimizing the performance and efficiency of the arrays.

Work with construction team to perform testing and commissioning of new solar plants.

Attend continuing education and training courses in order to maintain a strong working knowledge of electrical theory and to stay on the leading edge of new innovations in O&M.

Lighting the Way to a Clean Energy Vermont

Observe safety protocols, and quickly identify and escalate electrical safety hazards.

Perform work on solar arrays in compliance with all electrical codes and company policies.

Use multimeter, low resistance Ohm-meter, PV Analyzer, IR thermometer, IR camera, hand-held irradiance meter, underground fault locator, insulation resistance tester, and crimping tool as well as a variety of hand tools in the performance of electrical maintenance work.

Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures to ensure work is always performed in compliance with intended electrical isolation procedures.

Assist with troubleshooting and & diagnostics of a wide range of Direct Current (“DC”) faults in the PV plant and perform DC preventive maintenance activities.

Work with subcontractors in their performance of maintenance activities.

Complete on-the-job electrical & task-specific training.

Conduct basic networking, such as changing IP addresses on laptop to connect with equipment.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of electrical systems.

Ability to use both hand and power tools in a proficient manner.

Ability to lift 100 pounds on occasion.

Must be able to work in an outdoor environment and be able to travel to remote project sites.

Must be physically fit and able to sit, stand or walk for the entire duration of a workday.

Ability to wear full complement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are required.

Must have the ability to travel, and occasionally work on-call during off-shift hours and weekends.
