Native American Career and Technical Education Program Coordinator (FT, 12 months)

Salary: $45,000 Max DOE
The salary placement upon hire is based on the selected candidate's education and relevant work experience as outlined in the job announcement and the established salary schedule for the classification of position to be filled.
SCOPE OF WORK
The NACTEP Program Coordinator, under the direction of the Director of Workforce Education, is responsible for providing management of the NACTEP grant. This includes administrative tasks such as fiscal responsibilities related to budget management, staff supervision, program development, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This position focuses on ensuring grant compliance. This is a grant-funded position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Coordinate the NACTEP program by monitoring the NACTEP goals, objectives and performance measures.
2. Maintain and monitor the budget by providing proper tracking of appropriations, expenditures and reallocations.
3. Oversee student Education to Employment Plans, funding plans and support services plans.
4. Coordinate with NWIC Workforce and Lummi Employment and Training Program staff.
5. Coordinate with NWIC Admissions and Registration staff to ensure a smooth process for NACTEP students.
6. Coordinate with Human Resources to post and recruit for instructor positions, including preparing and negotiating instructor contracts.
7. Produce monthly calendars of training events.
8. Assist with the design of training brochures/flyers/posters and coordinating program advertisements
9. Coordinate with college and community constituencies regarding the implementation of department goals
10. Recruit and advise students concerning support services, academic goals, and career goals
11. Coordinating with the External Evaluator to develop course evaluation forms and ensure complete and ongoing program evaluation
12. Create and maintain student files
13. Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The NACTEP Coordinator co-supervises and hires instructors to teach NACTEP funded programs. Responsibilities include creating and implementing processes, procedures, and policies, interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED to perform this position successfully:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business or related field
At least three (3) years of experience in coordinating training
Demonstrated ability in budgeting, contracting and spreadsheets
Proven ability to work in a team environment in order to achieve strategic and departmental goals
Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work well with all people
Excellent organizational, communication, and planning skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Education, Business or related field
Experience working in Native communities and organizations
Other Qualifications:
Must have a current driver’s license and a driving abstract that meets employer qualifications for insurability as well as the ability to travel on occasion.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Contact Management systems; Database software; Design software; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
