Position: Youth Development Professional Program Substitute

Location: Elementary School Locations in Richland, West Richland and Pasco

Hours: Between 6:00am-6:00pm M-F

Pay: Guaranteed on-call wage of $5.00 paid per hour during 6:00am-8:00am M-F each week. Paid higher hourly wage ($13.91-$15.35/hr DOQ) for hours worked. Must be available and accept hours offered to be paid for on-call hours.

General Description:

Under the supervision of the Site Coordinator, the Youth Development Professional is responsible for creating and helping implement a variety of programs in the areas of the Arts, Health and Life Skills, Character and Leadership Development, Education and Career Development, and Sports, Fitness, and Recreation. Youth Development Professionals visibly enjoy working with children and create an environment that is safe and fun while helping members build confidence and skills. The Youth Development Professional fosters positive relationships with children, families, staff, and community members.

Qualifications:

Previous experience working with youth preferred.

Ability to remain poised, positive, and energetic in a busy work environment.

Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Currently enrolled in or possessing a high school education or higher.

CPR/First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens certification (preferred but not required).

Job Functions:

Implements activities for youth that give them a sense of belonging, usefulness, influence, and competence utilizing existing curriculum from Boys & Girls Clubs of America in addition to local initiatives.

Works with the Site Coordinator to set up community relationships which benefit the Club and its members.

Establishes a program setting that ensures the health and safety of members.

Promotes and markets programs to Club members.

Contributes to the creation of the Club’s overall climate for youth development and success.

Other duties as assigned.

COVID-19 considerations:

Daily screenings are performed for all youth and staff members. Masks are worn by youth over 5 years old and all staff when not eating, drinking or outside where social distancing can be implemented. Increased cleaning and sanitizing procedures.
