Senior Software Engineer

Job Description

Commerce Signals, a subsidiary of Verisk, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer. This position will predominantly use Python and Java, but this position requires familiarity with disparate languages, environments, and technologies. The candidate will have experience writing code to be deployed to a cloud environment. The ideal candidate will have 5 years hands-on professional programming experience.

Qualifications

• Java (minimum 2 years)
• Python (full-fledged applications, not just tiny one-off scripts) (minimum 2 years)
• AWS (or a comparable cloud environment)
• Container experience
• Some experience with shell scripting
• Experience using a relational database

• Spring – specifically Spring Boot
• Eagerness to learn new languages and technologies
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations
• Willingness to contribute to a small team in ways that surpass initial job requirements
• Atlassian Tool experience (especially Bamboo or Bitbucket Pipelines)
• Experience managing a team
