Job Summary

Under general supervision, teach various finance and other related business courses to community college students. May be assigned to any SLCC location.

May be assigned to teach courses in personal finance, principles of banking, financial mathematics, financial management, investments, mutual funds, financial planning, business credit, financial statement analysis, credit law, and other business-related courses.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Effectively prepare and teach classes to facilitate student learning consistent with department, division, school, and college standards and expectations.

2. Keeps accurate classroom records.

3. Coordinates Student ADA accommodation requests following college policy and procedures.

4. Distribute and adhere to current course outlines and / or syllabi.

5. Complete required training and attend department meetings.

6. Demonstrate and support professional commitment to division, school, and college mission and values.

7. Meets College and department deadlines and evaluates student work in a timely manner including submitting final grades on time.

8. Support department assessment initiatives.

9. Demonstrate depth of understanding in the economics discipline.

10. Follows SLCC policies and procedures.

11. Other job related duties as required.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued

1. Become familiar with, and abide by, all college policies with immediate priority

given to those policies that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization.

2. Maintain professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.

3. Provides appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments.

4. Returns graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards.

5. Maintains student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades.

6. Conducts a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance. Informs

students of progress to date periodically and assigns and submits grades by published deadlines.

7. Assists in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment.

8. Follows and abides by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy.

9. Handles / responds to student concerns / complaints and responds to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 1 2 days).

10. Maintains professional appearance as defined by the discipline and / or College

procedure.

11. Completes all required employee trainings.

12. Knows and enforces FERPA guidelines.

13. Administer ADA accommodations as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Three (3) years non-teaching full-time (or full-time equivalent) work experience in economics, finance, or related field.

2. College level teaching / corporate training experience.

3. Knowledge and experience in technology-enhanced instruction.

4. Technologically literate and innovative.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Master’s degree in finance from an accredited college or university, OR

2. Master’s degree in closely related field, AND

3. Verification of completion of degree requirements by time of employment with official transcripts.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, culture,

ethnic background, and abilities, to maintain good working relationships across the

College. The ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic,

cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
