Position Overview

The Business / Data Analyst will gather and document business and data requirements, perform data profiling and analysis, and create logical source-to-target mappings to describe how data will be mapped into a data lake / warehouse, all within a clinical, claims, and financial Healthcare domain.

Essential Job Functions

Gather requirements through discovery and joint requirements elicitation sessions (aka JAD sessions), which includes defining the questions and process of requirements discovery and facilitating the joint requirements elicitation sessions.

Elaborate the business and functional requirements, including the creation of use cases which describe how the users and / or the system will act and function to meet the solution needs.

Produce Business, Functional, Non-functional, and Data Requirements documents which describe the needs which the solution must satisfy.

Perform data profiling, discovery, and analysis to identify / determine location, suitability and coverage of data, and identify the various data types, forms, and data quality which exist within a given data source.

Work with source system and business SME’s to develop an understanding of the data requirements and options available within customer source systems to meet the data and business requirements.

Create logical source-to-target maps as specifications for the logical flow and manipulation of data required to move data from customer source systems into the Data Warehouse

Requirements

Minimum 3 years of experience working as a Business / Data Analyst within a Healthcare provider setting, including requirements gathering and documentation, data profiling and creating logical data mappings, and working with Healthcare data, with a solid understanding of the business and IT processes involved in creating, manipulating, and sourcing this data.

Some experience performing conceptual and logical data model design involving creation or extension of dimensional data models is a plus.

Strong SQL query language skills.

Must possess adequate experience to enable mapping of data into complex data models.
