Role Summary :

Performs project engineering assignments including software, hardware, systems integration, and custom software development in support of a customer.

This is a project engineering role with advanced power system software analysis and deployment focus.

Essential Responsibilities :

Power system software deployment, integration, and tuning.

Deliver DMS / OMS systems, integrating software applications for customers.

Performs assigned system integration and testing tasks.

Contribute to basic design of subsystems and integration of total system.

Completes tasks in diagnosing and fixing system and application problems.

Completes project, system documentation and internal testing. Responsible for documentation, reports on tasks and development work assigned by lead engineer.

Provides input to technical lead on schedules and cost estimates.

Collaborate and liaison with engineers across the global software delivery organization.

Interfaces with customer on general and specific issues within area of functional expertise.

Conducts technical review of application designs and works with the application areas to ensure that project requirements are met.

Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Qualifications / Requirements :

Basic Qualification :

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a Power Systems focus, or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineer, Mathematics) majors with a minimum of 6 years of experience, OR Master’s Degree with 4+ years of experience, OR PhD.

Ability and willingness to travel between 25% to 50% domestic and international

Eligibility Requirement

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.

Desired Characteristics :

Requires experience with power system engineering concepts such as network analysis, optimization, state estimation, and load flow analysis.

Requires one (1) year software integration and / or DMS / OMS experience.

Requires two (2) year of work experience using programming languages : Perl and / or Python.

Master’s or Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent degree

Strong transmission or distribution power system, outage management system applications exposure. Knowledge of renewable energy integration, distributed energy resource management (DERMS), and scenario based simulations

Power system utility work experience specifically related to control room technology

Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Work experience to write professional and technical reports and procedures.

Ability to make informal presentations to technical and non-technical staff and customers.

Ability to prioritize work assignments and shift work efforts based on the needs of the department or business goals.

Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.

Ability to work effectively, collaborate and share knowledge in a team environment.

Demonstrates a high degree of personal and professional integrity.

Ability to occasionally work non-standard hours to accommodate business needs.
