Maintenance Electrician

Job Summary:

An Electrician performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. Work involves most of the following: installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment, and using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments. In general, the work of the maintenance electrician requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

Primary Tasks:

Interpret engineering drawings associated with work orders to include electrical and electronic schematics, logic diagrams, and mechanical drawings.

Install, maintain, and repair industrial equipment for the generation, distribution, and utilization of electrical energy.

Install, repair/replace, modify, load, and test electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, panels, switches, breakers, and controls located in and near buildings and structures. The SME will periodically inspect and approve wiring at “rough in” and prior to applying power to circuits.

A quarterly inspection of wiring “rough-in” will be conducted and approved by the SME prior to applying power to circuits.

Align, install, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate electrical controls and indicating systems in accordance with applicable drawings and technical data.

Inspect and identify areas requiring lighting repair and/or replacement and perform replacement of electrical ballasts and bulbs used in industrial facilities

Perform pretest, operational, and final testing of complex electrical and electronic systems, components, and subassemblies in accordance with applicable drawings and technical data.

Provide electrical support on projects and work orders.
