Alpha Inc. is seeking journeyman level applicants for the Heavy Equipment Operator position to operate a range of construction equipment including excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, blades, rock trucks, graders, etc. in a safe and efficient manner.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Heavy Equipment Operator drives or controls construction equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, blades, rock trucks, graders, etc. in a safe and efficient manner. The Heavy Equipment Operator ensures that the machinery being used is in good working order and follows all relevant procedures and protocols while using it.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible to operate heavy equipment in compliance with the company’s operating safety policies and procedures.

Works with and assists the line crew in digging ditches and trenches, hoisting material, tools, equipment, and any related work with a backhoe, front-end loader, excavators

Load and unload equipment from vehicles and trailers.

Ensure company equipment, material, and the work site are maintained, kept clean, and stored in a safe manner.

Inspect heavy equipment/machinery for safe day-to-day operation.

Knowledge with utility excavation and mass excavation.

Maintain awareness of surroundings at all times, including fellow employees and visible and non-visible hazards such as elevation changes, street crossings, and underground utilities.

Moves, loads, and spreads materials throughout project site utilizing mechanized equipment; unload pipes, pallets, and other materials.

Knowledge in not to exceed equipment limitations such as capacity and capability.

Provide direction to employee(s) assisting with installation.

Encourage workplace safety and environmental practices improvement.

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must be a journeyman level operator - required.

Minimum five (5) years as a Heavy Equipment Operator required.

Minimum five (5) years of Heavy Equipment experience preferred.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Understand different hand signals used to signal operators of construction machinery.

Knowledge of construction tasks and execution sequencing.

Must have a valid Hawaii Driver’s License and access to an insured vehicle.

Must have a clean driving record.

Must be able to physically lift and carry 100lbs.

Must be able to climb on, off, and under various pieces of equipment, and physically access all parts of equipment to perform job requirements.

Must be able to bend/kneel/stand/walk.

Must be able to push/pull as required when operating hand controls.
